RONIX v2 Boards – The Dark Core

Ronix wakeboards in 2009 has released a special edition Dark Core wakeboards, otherwise known as v2, for each of the three male Ronix pro wakeboarding owners – Chad Sharpe, Parks Bonifay, and Danny Harf.

The Dark Core series boards are based on these pro riders Ronix Boards.  Danny Harf’s One, Parks Bonifay’s IBEX, and Chad Sharpe’s Viva with a new core… yes a Dark Core.

Ronix One, Viva, Ibex

Ronix One, Viva, Ibex

Danny Harf’s One, Chad Sharpe’s Viva, and Park Bonifay’s Ibex

The Dark Core is 20% lighter then other Ronix boards and made by a material that recoils to its original structure, this material is common in large ships.  As you can imagine Ronix is keeping this magic Dark Core top secret as secret as KFC original herbs and spices.   They have mentioned it’s a hybrid carbon/glass weave.

So what does all this mean?  Well supposedly the recoil should have added enegy and be able to maintain it’s rocker line through the transition, through the wake, and onto the landing much more then traditional structure.  damn… if you understand any of that let me know and you’ll be named the Physicist… in basics I think it means because of the recoiling, the board has hidden energy and it should be able to hold onto it’s edge, whilst allowing you to stick the landing – oh, and get more air as the board is 20% lighter.

Ronix One/DHV2, IBEX/PBV2, VIVA/CSV2

The real test will be if Parks, Sharpe and Harf actually use this board in comps.

The IBEX/PBV2 and VIVA/CSV2 come in both a 136cm and 140cm board, while ONE/DHV2 comes in sizes 139cm and 144cm

As a true Ronix Product, history would suggest that this board will be better then expected and created with perfection.

Malibu Wakesetter VLX 2009

The 2009 Malibu Wakesetter VLX has been released, having been recently redefined.  With personal presents for wake size and shape, 1,250 pounds of ballast, and the Maliview – a legend has be born.

Image from MalibuBlog: Malibu Wakesetter VLX 2009

The Malibu Wakesetter is considered by many as a monster on the river, which has caused split opinions of love and hate by the waterskiing community. Malibu is a dominator on the lake that has tried so hard to market themselves as an ultimate wakeboarding boat with massive wakes.  As wakeboarders we love the wakes, but as a Malibu owner you hold an implied image from old school waterskiers, you know the guys with the flat boats that sit about 1 foot from the waters edge.  These waterskiers are cursing as they get rocked by the massive rollers left by wakeboarding boats, boats that are generalised as ‘that Malibu’.   It seems to own any other boat goes un-noticed, all large wakes seem to be generalised as Malibu boats.

If you can deal with being cursed, progression of wakeboarding, loud music, fun times, massive air, and quality boats then save your coins and buy the 2009 Malibu Wakesetter VLX.    Oh and tell that old school waterskier that if they were a true waterskier they’d be up at sunrise to get the glassy water.

Until your bank account grows, you can view these videos.

D.I.N.E. Out with Hyperlite

Everyone likes to D.I.N.E. out, having food prepared for you is a luxury.  If you like your food served in a 5 star restaurant the the new 2009 D.I.N.E. series wakeboards by Hyperlite is supposedly wakeboarding served on a silver platter.

The Hyperlite media Jargon is that the “D.I.N.E. Project is two years in the making and poised to revolutionize an industry.    D.I.N.E. combines never before seen construction methods, technologies, and materials to create an entirely new vision.”   Blah blah, this says absolutely nothing about D.I.N.E. series of boards..

To me actions speak louder then words and it’s definitely true here with the Hyperlite team riders becoming apart of the D.I.N.E. series.  Riders such as Rusty Malinoski wakeboard, ‘Marek’, and Shaun Murray’s ‘Murray’ wakeboard, and the Sub Vi this is a series of wakeboards that is definitely something to dress up to dinner for (corny and crappy segway i know, but the boards should be awesome).

As for styling… The Hyperlite D.I.N.E series boards are traditional play it safe colors and styles, which are good for a board lasting the test of time and not offending buyers, but this season I’m really digging the statement boards – boards like Ronix’s Arcade by Bill and Liquid Force’s Shane.  Boards that stop other riders leaving them saying oh sweet every time you flip up the boards graphics.   Let’s face it wakeboarding is a show sport.

Liquid Force 2009 Wakeboards

Liquid Force 2009 Wakeboards Line-up.
Released from Liquid Force Blog

Liquid force showed their 2009 wakeboard line-up at the Surf Expo recently.  The Surf Expo is held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

So what’s new in 2009?  Be prepared, this year’s range is very retro, very stylish and most importantly very Liquid Force.   While, most of the boot range are conventional black and white styles, Liquid Force are taking a risks releasing these retro boots, I’m not sure if i’d have the courage to wear them, or even the cash for something that could be outdated by next season.  Are you game enough to wear them?  Let us know.

Liquid Force boots 2009

We welcome to the lineup the new Liquid Force Fly Series wakeboards for Lyman, Shane and Watson – three very different style pros on one series this is going to be an intense board range.  The Fly series is one wakeboard range I can’t wait to test!!

My particular favourite board graphics go to the board second from the left in the picture above, its the one with the very old-school surfboard style.   The Fly board is the closet board in the photo.

Overall, Good job to the guys at Liquid Force Wakeboards for an excellent 2009 line-up of graphics and designs.

Ronix 2009

Ronix wakeboards have released the 2009 collection.

When in a wakeboading store I can’t pass a Ronix Board and not stop; they are eye-catching, great boards. In true Ronix tradition the 2009 boards are an element of style and progression built and designed by wakeboarding gods.  I can’t wait to test the 2009 wakeboards, even just to hold one in my hands – sounds obsessed I know, but these boards are awesome.

If the new Ronix boards are as good as the old Ronix One then only those who are truely pimp will be riding them.

The 2009 Class of Ronix wakeboard school photo:

Back row: ONE/DHV2, IBEX/PBV2, VIVA/CSV2, ONE, VIVA
Front row: IBEX, MANA, ARCADE by BILL, ARCADE, VAULT

For those slow off the blocks, DH is Danny Harf, PB is Parks Bonifay, CS is Chad Sharpe, three of the four owners of Ronix (Square One).

As you can see from the image the 2009 Ronix wakeboard designs are 10 / 10, I think the top graphic design going to Arcade by Bill – I have a soft sport for this style of graphics.

What’s your opinion on the 2009 Ronix board range?

WakeWorld Riders Choice Awards.

The 8th Annual WakeWorld Riders choice results have been finalised and posted.

First things first, the Bonifay Boys did not make the 10 ten this year, as was Andrew Adkinson.  The top Male rider for 2008 goes to Rusty Malinoski, followed by Philip Soven
and bronze going to Randall Harris.

On the female front, the one and only Dallas Friday held number 1 – nothing can stop this girl, not even injuries.

Wakeboard of the year goes to the Liquid Force Watson.  Ronix One deservedly takes the silver, and Liquid Force Lyman taking bronze.

Boat of the year always seems to have the same contenders, Mastercraft’s X-Star yet again takes the boat of the year, followed by arch rival Malibu with the Malibu Wakesetter VLX,  and as per last year 3rd place was placed by Correct Craft, but this time the Nautique AIR 230 instead of AIR 210.

CWB Transcend 2009

CWB Transcend 2009 – Andrew Adkison Shape

Transcend was one of the best selling wakeboards in 2007, followed by one of the most popular shapes in 2008 - in 2009 it doesn’t disappoint. The Transcend has been improved for 2009 by CWB shaper Doug Cannon and world champion Andrew Adkison. The CWB Transcend will continue to utilize the fin extension system, however the molded fins have been reshaped. The board has also been made 1 inch wider, and the center spine extended.

For more specs see ridecwb.com

Ultimately, the 2009 CWB Transccend board looks fresh and modern with its black finish and clean ‘architecture’ pattern designs.

CWB Transcend 2009

This is the sort of board that we’ll last for years, a solid wakeboard with graphics that aren’t going to offend any rider.
